Discover All Pros & Cons of Hair Extensions

Thin, weak and prone to thinning? If this is what your hair is like, try out extensions. Hair extensions in a salon save your hairdo and make you feel feminine. Meet the most popular hair extension methods and check their benefits and downsides.

Clip-in Hair Extensions

In this method, natural hair strands are attached with clips. One clip is used for hair growing behind the ears whereas three or four clips are used for hair at the back of the head. What are the good and bad sides of hair extensions? You can put them on and take off at home, replace them, choose different colors and lengths. Hair extensions aren’t expensive and cause little hair and scalp damage. What about the downsides? They’re usually made from the synthetic and irritative material. You must take them off when you go to sleep because they may bother you at night. Clip-in extensions aren’t recommended for fine hair. The clips may break off while wearing which is their biggest disadvantage.

Cold & Hot Fusion Hair Extensions

Hot fusion hair extension involves attaching extensions with keratin and heat tool. The effects last up to six months and the technique is recommended for all hair types, except fine and dry hairdos. Strands are 100% natural and perfectly matching the client’s hair. Among the downsides there is a long treatment, high costs, potential damage in natural hair while taking extensions off, feeling of discomfort due to the weight of extensions.

Applying cold fusion hair extensions consists of attaching extensions with a metal cylinder. The inside of the tool is covered with silicone that protects natural hair from damage. Effects are very natural and last up to twelve months. Human hair is used for the extensions. Are there any minuses? Sadly, these are the time needed for the treatment, troublesome styling routine and potential irritations.

Wavy & Curly Hair Extensions

Extensions are attached with a needle and thread. Pluses? The method works for everyone, no matter the hair and scalp type. It is safe – the risk of irritation is very low. Sadly, if extensions are attached too tightly, you may feel headache and in extreme cases – it causes thinning. If you don’t regularly clean the scalp, you may suffer from irritation, let alone skin diseases.
